RESEARCH × DESIGN × AI

03 / About

I start with people. Then I design the systems around them.

I'm Lili, an Austin-based product designer and UX researcher specializing in conversational AI, healthcare, and mental wellbeing. My approach combines psychology, human-centered research, systems thinking, and a commitment to responsible technology.

Before transitioning into AI design, I spent five years working in HR at a cybersecurity company, where I grew into a leadership role managing international operations. My work involved navigating compliance requirements, building relationships across diverse teams, and developing metrics to evaluate organizational performance. With a background in psychology, I was especially interested in understanding the deeper needs behind human behavior and how trust and organizational systems shape experiences.

That experience became the foundation for an intentional shift into AI product design. I was drawn to the emerging relationships between people and intelligent systems, particularly technologies designed to listen, remember, and offer guidance. In healthcare and mental wellbeing, these interactions demand careful consideration of safety, consent, human vulnerability, and ethical responsibility.

Today, I apply that perspective to designing and evaluating AI experiences. My work spans UX research, conversational architecture, safety guardrails, consent frameworks, and response evaluation. I've contributed to AI wellbeing platforms and perinatal mental health initiatives, bringing a foundation in human behavior, operational accountability, and ethical decision-making to product development.

Point of view

Every response is a design decision. Every decision carries responsibility.

People form relationships with conversational AI through thousands of small interactions; what a system remembers, when it asks permission, how it handles uncertainty, and where it draws boundaries all influence whether that relationship is safe and trustworthy.

I believe these decisions deserve the same rigor as the larger systems behind them. My goal is to help build intelligent products grounded in human behavior, designed with ethical safeguards, and evaluated against clear standards of quality and safety.
